The Winter People blog tour: guest post & giveaway @rebekahlpurdy @entangledteen @NereydaG1003

Today's tour features some pretty chilly topics. A young girl rescued from a frozen pond. Warnings to stay away. Sounds intriguing to me. Welcome to The Winter People blog tour. Isn't that cover lovely? We have a guest post (with music!) and there's a tour-wide giveaway to enter. Now let's find out more about Entangled Teen's latest title.

Entangled Teen

An engrossing, complex, romantic fantasy perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore or Maggie Stiefvater, set in a wholly unique world.

Salome Montgomery fears winter—the cold, the snow, the ice, but most of all, the frozen pond she fell through as a child. Haunted by the voices and images of the strange beings that pulled her to safety, she hasn't forgotten their warning to "stay away." For eleven years, she has avoided the winter woods, the pond, and the darkness that lurks nearby. But when failing health takes her grandparents to Arizona, she is left in charge of maintaining their estate. This includes the "special gifts" that must be left at the back of the property.

Salome discovers she’s a key player in a world she’s tried for years to avoid. At the center of this world is the strange and beautiful Nevin, who she finds trespassing on her family’s property. Cursed with dark secrets and knowledge of the creatures in the woods, his interactions with Salome take her life in a new direction. A direction where she'll have to decide between her longtime crush Colton, who could cure her fear of winter. Or Nevin who, along with an appointed bodyguard, Gareth, protects her from the darkness that swirls in the snowy backdrop. An evil that, given the chance, will kill her.

Nevin’s Anthem

In The Winter People one of my favorite characters I wrote was Nevin. He’s kind of this mysterious guy who comes out of nowhere. He’s hot, charming, conceited, full of secrets, and kind of a tortured soul. There are moments where I absolutely love him and other times when I want to shake him and ask him what his problem is. He’s kind of complicated. He tries hard to communicate with Salome, but often times says the wrong things.

While writing this book, I was sitting in the parking lot of my work getting ready to go inside, when this song came on the radio. Something about it just gripped me. The lyrics fit my character Nevin perfectly. So when I got inside, I got online to try and figure out what the song was called. The more I thought about the lyrics, the more I knew I needed to buy the single. At last, I found it—Nevin’s anthem.

That song is: Hell on the Throat by Dashboard Confessional

Once you’ve read the book, go back and listen to this song and tell me if I’m right. It’s like the band had written for Nevin. So perfect.
