Twisted Perfection (Perfection #1) by Abbi Glines
Release date: April 22, 2013
Tour organized by: AToMR Tours
Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…
Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.
What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came. The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…
About the Author:
Abbi Glines was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She grew up in the small town of Sumiton, Alabama where she left the summer she turned eighteen. She didn’t get far… she chased her high school sweetheart down to the coast and she’s been there ever since.
Abbi now lives in the quaint southern town of Fairhope, Alabama with her three children and husband Keith (the high school sweetheart she chased after). Her life is never dull and Keith always makes sure there is another “experience” for them to explore.
Books published by Abbi include The Vincent Boys and the USA TODAY bestseller The Vincent Brothers, Breathe, Because of Low, the USA TODAY bestsellers While It Lasts and Just For Now, The Existence Trilogy that includes the USA Today Bestseller Ceaseless, and The New York Times bestseller and Wall Street Journal bestseller Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far.
When Abbi isn’t locked away in her office typing away she is hauling her kids to and from their many social activities. You could say her second job is the Glines Kids personal chauffeur. It’s a rather illustrious job.
Twisted Perfection is an addictive read. I began reading it one evening as my family was settling down to go to sleep and before I knew it was early morning and I had finished the story. This is also my first Abbi Glines book and since this book ended the way it shockingly did, I know I HAVE to grab a copy of Perception #2 when it comes available.
Della is a unique character and I haven't really come across a nineteen year old quite like her. Forced to live with a mentally unstable mom who abused her, she was not allowed to leave the house. Traumatized, she still sneaks out at times and is befriended by the girl next door, Braden. A friendship ensues. The story begins after Braden has just gotten married and has given Della her old red Honda Civic. "Go explore. Find your life, Della," are Braden's words to her friend. Della decides to do just that. Take a road trip to find herself. But she first has to learn how to pump gas and that's how she meets Woods. Tall, gorgeous, and sexy sweet, they flirt and then he asks her to dinner. This is how far my recap goes because fans of this genre need to read Twisted Perfection and fall for these two.
Woods is a nice guy, conflicted since he doesn't want to follow the life plan his dad has created for him. Marry a specific girl, have the families join together, live happily ever after in this business plan of a sham marriage. He wants to take over his father's business--as the only child it should be his birthright--but not with his domineering father. I liked Woods, his confident, sexy manner and way of expressing what he wants in the moment. Even when he meets up with Della months later, he hasn't forgotten the girl with the fantastic figure and striking blue eyes. After their steamy scenes, no one would be able to forget these two. Up until Woods pulls Della into a bedroom for a quickie then fesses up his plan to propose to another woman, I was in his corner. Then I slapped the "d-bag" title on him.
I'm happy to say Woods redeemed himself later on. Della was a bit flighty and understandably so. She's like a child suddenly free with the body and needs of a woman dealing with the after effects of a traumatic childhood. She's socially awkward but hoping to live a little on this road trip. She's too trusting and comes across as innocent but there's something behind her eyes which casts a broken shadow. She is a different character and yet I wasn't always into her, not until much later in the story when she finally grew on me. I did tire of their trysts in certain parts and would like to read more about Woods' group of friends (I understand they are also in another series, Too Far, features Rush and Blaire).
Set among the world of the spoiled and wealthy, Twisted Perfection is a refreshingly different love story. I'm now an Abbi Glines fan. I'm impressed with her characters who have incredible staying power and she so easily brings their world to life.
I'd say this cover is pretty perfect.
I received a promotional copy in return for my honest review.
There is a tour wide giveaway of one iPad Mini (open International).
