Timeless Love

By Brooke Moss

Hi, and thanks for having me here on the Reader Girls Blog today! I’m so excited to share my latest release, The Carny, with you all, and to explain why the love between my two main characters is timeless…

First off, why is timeless love so…er, timeless?

Open any great book—open a dozen of them—and what is the running theme? Love. Love between a hero and a heroine that can withstand time, space, war, grief, and betrayal. Love that remains strong even through the toughest of times. Real love. Timeless love.

This is what my heroine, Charlotte Davenport, and my hero, Vincent Youngblood, have together. They met and kissed just once when they were teens, but that brief connection carried them through the next ten years. When the reunite, the sparks fly—but not just because of earth shaking kisses. Because of their emotional connection as well. Vincent just gets Charlotte. He understands her, encourages her, and stands beside her—even when she doesn’t believe in herself. And Charlotte finds Vin intelligent, patient, and wise—even when he makes mistakes. Their love mimics that of every classic love story in history. A connection that doesn’t fade over time, and can withstand life’s up’s and down’s. Would you like to hear more about my book, The Carny? Here’s what it is all about:

“At a town fair on the coast of Oregon, handsome Native American carny, Vincent Youngblood, bestows an unforgettable kiss on shy, awkward teenager, Charlotte Davenport. Then he disappears without another word, leaving her baffled and enamored.

Ten years later, Charlotte is still living in the small fishing town of Astoria, while being trained to--reluctantly--take over for her philandering hotelier father when he retires. After all, who else will do it? Her two perfect sisters are busy being married to their flawless husbands and having cookie cutter children, while Charlotte remains single, childless, and every bit as mousy as she was a decade ago.

As Charlotte struggles to climb out from underneath her judgmental parents thumb, the carnival rolls back into town, and Charlotte finds herself face to face with Vin again. He's back to run his father's carnival, walking away from a promising career in medicine he started in Chicago. Will her biased and judgmental family accept her relationship with a man who is not only a Native American, but works as a carny for a living? And what unsavory secrets bind the well-educated and seemingly superlative Vin to that ramshackle carnival?

After all, you can’t judge a carny by its cover.”

I hope you’ll all grab a copy of The Carny, to read all about Charlotte and Vin’s timeless love. I’m so excited to be sharing this story with the world. It’s a fun beach read with plenty of romance, laughs, a hot Native American hero, and a poignant theme. Grab your copy here:

Who am I, you ask? Here’s a little bit more about me…

“Brooke Moss is the name, contemporary romance, fantasy YA, and women's fiction are the game. Brooke writes complex, character-driven stories about kismet, reunited lovers, first love, and the kind of romance that we should all have the chance at finding. She prefers her stories laced with some humor just for fun, and enough drama to keep her readers flipping the pages, and begging for more! When Brooke isn't spinning tales, she spends her time drawing/cartooning, reading, watching movies then comparing them to books, and, of course, wrangling four kids, one hubby she lovingly refers to as her "nerd", and attempting to conquer the Mount Everest of laundry that is the bane of her existence.”

Find Brooke elsewhere on the web at her website and on Twitter at @BrookeMoss4. Purchase The Carny from the publisher.

  1. Well, I haven`t really got my first kiss yet, but you have to bet that it`s going to be magical. ;)

  2. It was in high school, in a car and not very good:p Thanks!

  3. My first kiss was in 4th. grade, and it was really bad. The boy had bad breath, bumped my nose, and then told all of his friends so they would tease me.

  4. Josh was my first boyfriend. I was in first grade and he was in second. It happened under the stairs of our apartment building. The kiss was sweet, innocent. I'll never forget it.

  5. I was in middle school and he was a year older. I was nervous and it was not good. Wish I could forget it!

  6. Hmm...I don't remember much but it was the day after I graduated High School. Gorgeous weather, a fire, and being 18 :)
